The MEFIT'19 Active Teen’s Fitness and Nutrition Conference aims to help combat childhood obesity and the diabetes epidemic by engaging 900+ teenagers in fitness, nutrition and health screenings.

FUELING CHANGE FOR A BETTER FUTURE

We know you’ve all seen the alarming headlines on the growing childhood obesity epidemic which can snowball into life-threatening health issues throughout children’s lives. According to the New England Journal of Medicine children today will not live as long as their parents because of obesity.

TO US, THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION!

“Overweight children are at high risk of becoming obese adults.”

Left unchecked these health problems can progress into life threatening problems later in life.

SO WHAT CAN WE DO?

The good news is that health problems such as high blood cholesterol and blood pressure linked to obesity can be managed early in childhood. Identifying and treating rapid weight gain early to prevent children from becoming obese, is key.

The MEFIT Active Teen’s Fitness and Nutrition Conference has a proven track record of being able to serve as an effective intervention that can contribute to behavior modification and increased awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and regular physical activity to combat obesity and provide lessons on health, nutrition and fitness that children will take with them as they progress through life.
